Surface Water Information--Data Scripts

get_sv_emeas

Name:
get_sv_emeas - Retrieve environmental air and water temperature measurements stored in Site Visit.

Information:
Get_sv_emeas provides a tab-delimited text file (rdb) output of the environmental air and water temperature readings stored for a station or stations in Site Visit. Historical air temperature and water temperature readings stored in the old ADAPS measurement file were transferred to these fields in the new Site Visit system and new readings are entered in this field. As of the launch of this script, those measurements are not included in any existing Site Visit Reports so this script was developed to more easily access and output those measurements. Note that the measurements retrieved usually are not the water temperature check measurements performed to check the accuracy of thermistors on Acoustic equipment (those measurements are not necessarily meant to accurately represent actual site conditions as these environmental measurements are - those checks are currently only stored in the xml of the associated site visit or in remarks fields at this time).

Usage:

Usage: get_sv_emeas [-a agency_cd] [-z db_no] [-p parm_cd ] [-o outfile] site_no site_no site_no . . .

if agency code (agency_cd) is missing will default to USGS
if database number (db_no) is missing will default to db01
if output file (outfile) is missing output will be sent to the terminal
-p if present will result in only the specified parameter code being retrieved

Sample Output:

The fields in the output are as follows:

agency:	agency code
site:	station ID
svdate	date/time of associated site visit
emdate	date/time of environmental measurement
parm	parameter code of measurement (00010=water temp, 00020=air temp)
meth	method code of measurement (won't be present for historical values-see Site Visit for available method codes)
value	Value of measurement (note that odd rounding may be present on historical transferred values)
agency	site	svdate	emdate	parm	meth	value
