2012 National Water Data Conference

We are pleased to announce the 2012 National Water Data Conference held in Portland, Oregon on September 24-27, 2012.

The Conference provides technical training and professional development for USGS Hydrographers.

The objective of this training is to ensure that science excellence and integrated science opportunities are woven into program development and achievement. The training will help improve the scientific excellence, societal relevance, and operational efficiency of data programs through training, exposure to innovations, and networking with scientists from other Water Science Centers and USGS disciplines. This training program promotes interagency as well as international hydrologic data excellence in Stream flow, Groundwater, and Water-Quality data.

This year's conference will be held at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront.

There are two overflow hotels where additional blocks of rooms have been secured at the government rate for a limited time. NOTE: If you wish to attend the National Water Data Conference and you did not enter your name on the Conference Attendance spreadsheet that was closed on June 8th 2012, please register and send Mark Mastin (mcmastin@usgs.gov) your name. You will be put on a stand-by list and notified by Friday, September 14th whether there are enough spaces left to allow you to attend. Presenters are exempt from this requirement.

MOCC Refresher for Occasional users (limited to 12 students): Note this course is not for first time MOCC students nor is it for regular, highly experienced users. This course is intended for occasional users whose MOCC certification is about to expire. This course requires an Experience Assessment form be filled out by your supervisor, an on-line prerequisite course must be completed beforehand and there is an additional fee of $75 to cover boat use and fuel.

  1. Have your Supervisor fill out the Experience Assessment document and bring a copy of this document to the Refresher Practical - Download the Experience Assessment document.
  2. Complete the on-line prerequisite course before attending the conference and bring a copy of your completion certificate to the Refresher Practical. We recommend that occasional users take either the 8 hr MOCC TEL Module OR the 4 hr MOCC Refresher. Either course will meet the education requirement.
