Subject: U.S. Geological Survey Information Technology Certification and Accreditation Automation and Streamlining Project Team
The Geospatial Information Office and cost center managers have determined that the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process requires an excessive amount of time to produce and maintain documentation. Therefore, the Information Technology and Security Office would like to establish a cross discipline team to identify and recommend improvements to our Office Automation General and Office Automation Specialized C&A processes. The C&A Automation and Streamlining Team (CAAST) will be led by Jim Steverson. The CAAST hopes to provide recommendations that will reduce the number of labor hours associated with C&A.
Through this memo we are seeking volunteers to serve on this team. Each team member is expected to commit no more than 10 hours per pay period to team assignments. Interested volunteers should obtain supervisory approval and submit their names to Jim Steverson (303) 236-3704 or jrstever@usgs.gov by July 21, 2006. Volunteer submissions will be organized by region and discipline. Selected team members will be announced mid August 2006, and will commence work by the end of August 2006. Project tasks are expected to be completed by the first quarter of FY08.
