Water Resources Discipline ITAC Activities

Donna, Brian, and Chris,

I wanted to thank each of you for your willingness to participate on the ITAC. You will become new members for our winter meeting that will be held sometime in the January to February time frame. The ITAC web page http://water.usgs.gov/usgs/itac/members.html has alot of information that will help you become acquainted with the committee. The following is a brief description of ITAC (excerpted from the web page):

The Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC) assists WRD to prepare strategic plans, coordinate computer systems configuration and implementation, represent and communicate with different parts of the organization, make decisions related to computer hardware and software systems used by WRD, and make recommendations to the Senior Staff on plans or policies that involve a significant expenditure of resources.

ITAC has comprehensive responsibility for providing guidance and direction in all matters relating to computer usage in WRD. Specifically this responsibility will focus on resolving immediate problems as well as identifying long-term goals.

The current membership will change on January 1, 2005, Brian McCallum, Joel Johnson, and myself will be rotating off the committee and you will be our replacements. Jeff Stoner will be the new ITAC Chair and Jim Nicholas will be the Vice Chair. If you have any questions feel free to contact anyone on the committee.
