Re: New additions to the contract.....Message 3 of 3 -Printers, Monitors, Consumables/Peripherals

My Comments -

All Printers - Printer output - Black and White or Color? OK, just noticed the large color - should spec B&W on the B&W only printers then.

1. Large Multi-function workgroup (after all, this is supposed to be for a big group)
a. Network scan option (support multiple users, remote scan from users desktop computer, etc.)?
b. Options for multiple output bins/sorter - i.e. for job separation (user A's output in bin 1, User B's output in bin 2, etc.).
c. Ability to staple up to 100 pages
d. Ability to punch holes
e. Ability to apply binding. Had this on some Cannon copiers in the past and it was amazingly useful.
f. Color should be an option

2. Individual laser - need to have requirement for stand alone processor in the printer - no Host Based printing. Host Based printers cause us numerous driver and memory conflicts. Host Based for inkjet is fine, just not laser printers.

3. individual multifunction laser - same requirement for no host based printing.

4. For travel printer, add bluetooth for connectivity.

5. Monitor Specs - need to spec DVI resolution vs. Analog resolution. LCD monitors should be required to support native DVI resolution (no analog conversion).

New additions to the contract.....Message 3 of 3 -Printers, Monitors, Consumables/Peripherals

Me again......

All,

The DOI will be adding Printers to the mandatory contract. The following printer categories will be available:
Individual –Inkjet and Laser Multifunctional Printers
Workgroup –Laser Printers (Color and Black and White)
Traveler –Portable printers
The DOI is also working on adding printer consumables, accessories and monitors to these contracts, as additional items. More information on these items will be available in June 2005. At this time, it has not been determined whether these categories will be mandatory. It is expected that these contracts will be awarded to small businesses. Below are the specifications the vendors will need to meet. Please distribute as appropriate for comment to trusted individuals in your areas. This is out time to make the contracts work for us. If you see a problem with any of these specs let me know. If you feel they do not serve USGS, let me know. Please have all comments back to me by April 4, 2005.

Questions -Monitors can be purchased with the computer, this piece is for additional monitors.

Thanks, Paul
