Description of Action Item:Find widget to track action items and parse current and completed action items in the SharePoint environment.

3/16/11 – COMPLETE - Roll this action item into a consolidated SharePoint action item.

11/3/10 - Ramona and Boyce will look at ITAC web information and ITAC SharePoint information. Convert from web to SharePoint. Ramona and Boyce will try to organize the data.

Issue: Archiving electronic data as original data

Description of Action Item:Follow up with technical offices regarding knowledge and positions on the legal status of electronic data for scientific records.  Contact Carol Wippich.

Status:

3/16/11 – Dave had a meeting with Christina Bartlett on 3/4/11. The information presented was in good shape. Christina took action items and is to get in touch with Dave by the end of this week. Dave will be working on a second draft memo that will reach out to a wider audience. He has a 10-minute block of time on the Data Chiefs agenda at the upcoming Surface Water Meeting. Second draft will be close to finished by the meeting. Data input will be limited to field data – getting this data into NWIS will have met the obligation. The goal is to keep the focus narrow to get this out the door.

3/3/11 – Dave has conference call tomorrow. He will report back to ITAC on findings.

2/16/11 -To be discussed at F2F

1/19/11 - Discuss electronic data archiving issues at face-to-face. ITAC to come up with a position document that can be presented to Senior Staff in April 2011.

12/15/10 – Dave sent Ken information before Thanksgiving. Dave and Ken will be in contact soon – first of the year. In Progress.

11/3/10 - Dave Mueller will talk with Ken Skipper about archiving electronic documents. Dave will also contact different water offices to see how each is currently archiving their data.

10/12/10 – On agenda for F2F. Dave is making progress.

9/14/10 – Dave has talked with Christina Bartlett and will contact her again in the next week.

6/24/10 - Presented summary of recent discussions and existing (contradictory) documentation for data archiving.

Issue: SIMS User Group

Description of Action Item: ITAC members will identify potential members for inclusion in the SIMS User Group based on needs identified by Gary Fisher.

Status:

3/16/11 – COMPLETESIMS User Group was approved at the face-to-face meeting in Mississippi. The group is now looking for names to populate the group. Current action is for ITAC to submit nominations – recommend a Field Office Chief and SIMS Users. Katherine suggested nominations be in by March 30, 2011.

3/3/11 – Discussed at F2F. See AIs below.

1/19/11 - Katherine will discuss SIMS group with Gary again. Katherine suggested that there be a group of Data Chiefs representing regions and disciplines – 3 people. (COMPLETE - See Katherine’s email to Gary Fisher of 1/21/11)

12/15/10 – Gary is still working on this.

11/3/10 - Gary shared the charter with the group (SMAC - Site Management Advisory Committee). ITAC will provide oversight of SMAC. Rotational members for 3 years with an option for an additional year.

10/12/10 – Hold for F2F

9/14/10 – Gary is waiting for names, but is moving forward with putting a group together. Katherine will talk with Gary and get an update for the October call. Need Gary to let us know if he has identified a person for the team.

Issue: ForeSee user satisfaction data for Water Science Centers

Description of Action Item: Find out what needs to happen to include ForeSee survey on WSC pages and WaterAlert page and to provide WSC contacts with logins to the ForeSee portal.

Status:

3/16/11 – COMPLETE –Ramona has the remaining action to send email to webmasters on how to load ForeSee on their sites if they choose to do so.

3/3/11 – Documentation is ready, but has not been sent out. Focused on usability audit report. The report is March 16. Invites sent to OC, Karen Wood, Karen Klima, and Kent Morgan – Web Re-engineering team.
Ramona will continue to update the group. ITAC will add ForeSee as a topic for future webinars.

12/15/10 – Ramona recently presented to the USGS Web Re-engineering group. Emphasis was to get the ForeSee survey on more pages. Email will go out to indicate we should have the survey on our pages, here is how to do it. Ramona drafting email.

11/3/10 - See if we can collect data on WaterWatch and WaterAlert usage before and after new release. Ramona will continue discussion with WaterWatch and WaterAlert to load ASCI on their pages.

9/14/10 – Ramona will revisit test cases and will get instructions out. WSCs want to know what they can expect from the results.
