Alaska Science Center ITAC Meeting 6/22 through 6/24/04 |
Bill and Steve,
I would like to thank you and your Center in advance for hosting the Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC) meeting June 22 -24, 2004. I wanted to let you know a bit about ITAC, what our charge is, and how we might benefit your staff.
ITAC is a 14-member group that helps guide and direct the information technology (IT) policy for the Water Resources Discipline (WRD). The group is made up of a cross-section of managerial, administrative, and IT support personnel. We are a direct conduit to relay computer issues from the field to Regional, WRD, and Bureau level managers and vice-versa. More information about our group can be found at: http://water.usgs.gov/usgs/itac/
I have attached the draft agenda. The times on the agenda are subject to change, but the specific issues probably will not change.
(Reference Draft Agenda)
Please note, on the first day (Tuesday, June 22) we will hold a town hall meeting. As part of the town hall meeting WRD's Office of Information Chief, NWIS Chief, and others give short presentations. Then the floor is opened to your staff to ask questions of the group. To be able to have a good discussion, please forward this email to your District staff so that they can start to consider possible computer and IT support questions that they would like to ask. Any relevant computer issues are fair game, with a particular emphasis on NWIS, NWISWeb, SLEDS, and other WRD software programs.
I have attached a link to the ITAC FY 2004 goals to help facilitate some discussion topics.

Our entire meeting is open to anyone from your staff. We appreciate the help in setting up the hotel arrangements, providing the conference room, projector, and internet connections. We look forward to meeting you and your staff very soon. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call.
Thank you,
Sonya
