Anne,
A few months ago, I participated in a large "cyber seminar" that attracted over 180 GIS people in WRD using several phone bridges and a software package called webex. I like the way webex works - its much better than netmeeting. When I got this email from Sandy Williamson, I thought of you and of our new GIS coordination/special interest group. In the interest of working together better between divisions, and also just to demonstrate this technology to a larger audience (outside WRD) I called Sandy and asked him if it would be OK to invite our GIS coordination group to participate. He thought it would be great, especially since he is trying to demonstrate the potential of webex in order to get a license bought.
Anyway, I'll be calling in tomorrow to help him set up some more GIS cyber seminars. When we have something set up, I'll let you know. It seems to me we (GIS coordination group) may even want to discuss more active participation in the cyber series in our own regular telecon. For example, I'll bet most of the people in our group could dream up and present their own cyber seminar on a GIS topic. BTW, do we have a telecon coming up soon?

could we have brief conf. call on this thurs. starting between 9 and 11 am pacific. i have trial Webex account we can use if need be thurs and beyond and i have good news that usgs is buying Webex license asap. I'd like to discus topics and presenters/ cmte members you might know from other disciplines for usgs-wide cyber seminar on gis-futures topic[s]
what i want to establish is a periodic series of GIS- cyber seminars presented by leading change agents in each discipline advancing GIS technology. this would fill the gap of 2 yrs between major usgs GIS mtgs and annual esri mtgs.
if you cannot make the Thursday time, give me times next we you are available.
we have ITAC call Friday and I'd love to report some progress on my action item below.
