Re: Upcoming ITAC meeting

Dan,

I would like to thank you and your district in advance for allowing the ITAC group to come and visit next month. I wanted to let you know a bit about our group, what our charge is, and how we can benefit your staff.

ITAC is a 14-member group that helps guide and direct the computer policy for the Water Resources Discipline. The group is made up of a cross-section of managerial, administrative, and IT support personnel. We are a direct conduit to relay computer issues from the district level to regional, WRD, and Bureau level managers and vice-versa.

More information about our group can be found at: http://water.usgs.gov/usgs/itac/

We are currently working on the agenda for the meeting, but wanted to let you and your staff know that usually on the first day (Tuesday, October 7th) we hold a town hall meeting, where a couple short presentations from the DIS office, NWIS chief, and others are given. Then the floor is open to you and your staff to ask questions of our group. To be able to have a good discussion, I would like to ask of you to please forward this email to your district staff so that they can start to consider possible computer and IT support questions that they would like to ask. Any relevant computer issues are fair game, with a particular emphasis on NWIS, NWISWeb, SLEDS, and other WRD software programs.

I have attached a link to the ITAC FY 2003 goals to help facilitate some discussion topics.

In addition, our entire meeting is open to any one from your staff to sit in. Once the tentative agenda is together, I will forward a link to you so that your staff can plan accordingly.

We appreciate the help in setting up the hotel arrangements, and look forward to meeting you and your staff very soon.

Thanks,

Brian
