Description of Action Item: Maintain a running list of webinar topics. The Co-Chair of ITAC is the lead coordinator for each webinar.

3/12/08 – David L. is working on this.2/22/08 – The next topic will be will be the overview of web mapping technologies. David L will take the lead to coordinate the webinar.  The Dates will be May 1st and May 20th

Issue: There is a need to know the complexity and frequency of all USGS passwords.

Description of Action Item: Someone is needed to list out all the possible password locations, their complexity requirements and frequency. (Also reference Nov2007.TX.06)

9/07/07Donna will email Paul and ask him to email the password spreadsheet to ITAC that he had shown us at the last face-to-face.  Terri will bring up the topic at the next Lotus face-to-face meeting in a few weeks to find out if at least one password could be eliminated (authentication through AD so the Lotus password isn’t required?).

Issue: BOF to be presented at the USGS Modeling Conference

Description of Action Item: Take the lead on an ITAC Birds of a Feather workshop at the Modeling conference.  The task would be to communicate with the participants on an IT level. Proposing a session and identify on who wants to participate. There are both the hardware and software side of the topic.

2/22/08 – Complete
1/11/08 – On hold until the next ITEM (per request from Chris) Athena asked Chris if it is not to late to attend and present would we like to still participate?  If we were to hold this who could present? ITAC will support if it is possible.
12/14/07 – Need update from Chris.  David Berger will contact Chris.
9/7/07 – No update (Chris not on the call).  Get an update by email?
7/25/07 - Chris will draft memo with a data call asking about grid parallel computing and if they are using it and if now what do they use. Chris, David and Kenneth Odum will work together. David will set up a webpage to disseminate the information.

Issue: GIO topics at Center Directors meeting

Description of Action Item:  Pat will communicate the need to have GIO topics (what Center Directors need to know) on the agenda for the upcoming Center Directors meeting.  Paul Exter has been unsuccessful in getting on the agenda.

3/12/08 – Close this action item – Athena will send survey results for upcoming Managers meeting in OK
2/22/08 – Not sure if this meeting will take place. A note was sent to all the Directors to please respond to the webpage.
1/11/08 – Pat has contacted Mark. Not sure if the committee is going to take this on.  Will wait on update from Pat.
12/1407 – Pat contacted Planning Committee.  Survey asking Center Directors what they would like to see in the conference.  Pat will get back in touch with them.  Topic does not look like it will fit in the Managers’ Conference.  Pat & Athena to send email to Directors adding this topic for the upcoming Manager’ Mtg.

Description of Action Item: Develop an ITAC questionnaire for WSC Directors about plans for web mapping and dynamic web paging. Develop questions and vet through ITAC.

Description of Action Item: Get a listing of existing IIS and ArcIMS servers in WRD from AD or ITSOT. To obtain a centralized source. Ties in with the future of NATWeb needs. (related to Nov2007.TX.07)

Issue: Communication to GIO in support of more resources to expand NatWeb.  Need a full reevaluation of the purpose of Natweb. 
3/12/08 – Ongoing – Katherine spoke to Rich Frazier and Steve Hammond about this … more info to come.

Description of Action Item: Send to Rich Frazier what we think the action item is for him take forward.  Incorporate the communication we want for Karen Klima.  It was discussed that NATWeb is not meeting the need. People are putting together their own web pages again and even the myUSGS has it’s own server.

Status of AI/Comment:

2/22/08 – This I going to happen as a goal. This will move to Athena and Katherine. The letter will be reviewed and finalized.
1/11/08 – No progress.  Katherine and David will meet and review before the next meeting
 Full reassessment of NatWeb and its use, new technology, mapping applications.  Develop the message for GIO from ITAC.   Suggest solicitation of input from a user group consisting of members from Disciplines for national needs. Sky will send a link to the Power point presentation (myUSGS Project) that Paul Exter suggested sending.
12/14/07 – David Bolt – We need a policy, advisory memo written from ITAC perspective that can be sent to Rich and Karen.  This is a major topic and needs to be discussed at next face-to-face meeting with GIO.  David will write draft.

Description of Action Item: For next face-to-face meeting: How to facilitate web-based digital archiving of operational data. Have ITAC continue to promote the cataloging concept developed through the Log Archiving tool.  Includes attributes/metadata. Filing of digital objects.

Description of Action Item: Provide ITAC with information about the training this year and suggestions for future training. Gather the feedback questionnaires that are being emailed out to the participants and report back.

3/12/08 – We need to wait until all classes are completed and receive feedback from students to determine if additional UNIX training is needed.

Description of Action Item: Contact MA WSC to see if we can hold the next face to face meeting the week of July 14th, 2008 and back up date is July 21, 2008.  If unable to hold in MA our back-up plan will be WA.

3/12/08 – Next ITAC face to face is in the WA-WSC the week of July 21st.  MA-WSC has already confirmed that the week of October 6th will work for them.
