Webex Demo:

Curtis Price helped out with Webex demo, with Sandy Williamson.
Tabs on Webex screen. The presenter controls what everyone is looking at. Curtis Price presented Arc GIS session demo.
Advantages:
- Installs w/o admin rights for presenter and attendee(s).
- More people can see stuff and participate.
- User interface is very functional, with more features; easier to use.
No admin access needed; this is a huge advantage.
Sharing can be turned on and off.
Sametime can be “too difficult.”
Example of polling was done on Webex; can show results of poll right away.
When you load a big PowerPoint file in Webex…it caches entire file, all the while showing Slide 1. It’s cached locally.
Application sharing was also demonstrated with an Excel spreadsheet file.

AI – Oct2004.Telecon.1: Terri Moore and Scott McEwen will e-mail issues to Sonya Jones to be forwarded to Kevin Gallagher regarding Security C&A (especially OAS enclave), and other topics, to be addressed at the November meeting.

AI – Oct2004.Telecon.2: Katherine Lins will contact Paul Exter and tell him it is not necessary for him to physically be there at the November meeting in Arkansas.

AI – Oct2004.Telecon.3: Status of Webex contract: Patty Damon sent/will send copy to Katherine Lins, who will send out to ITAC for review.

Katherine Lins said it is in Kevin's court at to whether the GIO pays for Webex. (They were using money from having fewer Sametime licenses.) If the GIO can't or won't cover the cost, the next question is whether Water can purchase Webex on its own. Patty Damon thought it was a joint effort.

Regarding the DOI “wireless freeze,” Katherine Lins mentioned that it is as of last week—a freeze for major contracts, for procuring with a contractor. It addresses cell phones or Blackberries.
