GCLAS STATUS AND FY03 PLANS

ITAC,

I am providing the attached "GCLAS Status and FY 03 Plans" in response to ITAC Action Item Sep2002.AL.10. (Description of Action Item:   Scott will seek SLEDS programmer salary maintenance funds for FY03 and FY04 from the OSW and OGW.)

Rgnl SW and QW Specialists,

Figured you'd be interested and may not have seen the attached status.

GCLAS STATUS AND FY03 PLANS

Attached is an MSWord file on the subject. It is my hope that it adequately supersedes all previous "status and plans" communiques. It provides:

  1. An explanation of expenditures in FY02,
  2. FY03 funding needs by the OSW and OWQ, and
  3. An updated list of "high priority GCLAS bugs.

Additionally, it touches on OI/NWIS support needs, but seeks additional input in that regard from OI/NWIS.

Note that I am proposing a February 4, 2002, ~1000 to ~1400 meeting of the GCLAS workgroup plus Joe Nielsen and representatives from NWIS/OI as appropriate (as explained in the attached memo) in Reston. Those listed as potential attendees, or any others that want to attend this meeting (one must have a sense of humor around here), please let me know if you can attend on Feb. 4. This meeting will be critical toward the delineation of a plan for the long-term success of GCLAS.

Thanks to Greg Koltun for his timely input and for Shiva's quick review. Direct any questions/comments to me, or do so "through channels" if you don't mind a slightly longer response time -- John
