The USGS Annual Water-Data Report (ADR) was discontinued on October 1, 2014. This internal website is here to inform you and to answer your questions.
If you read only one thing, let it be what this means for you. Afterward, you might have some questions the FAQ can answer. To understand why this happened—why ADR discontinuation was a logical decision—read up on history.
Or, watch this (updated September 2015) short video (direct download if player doesn't work):
The ADR was a product that motivated workflow processes. The new Water-Year Summary (WYS) reports on NWISWeb are a convenience to those end users who are accustomed to the look and feel of an ADR or SDS. But surveys suggest most end users already for years have obtained data through the web-based plots and tables of NWISWeb. Instead of ADR as records-approval motivator, we now are motivated by Continuous Records Processing.
Water Year 2014 and onward have no Microsoft Word documents! No ADR scripts! No PDFs! There is only CRP, and the new WYS reports as a convenience for those who need them. This memo may help you understand the implications this all has for your workflow.
Your time and attention are scarce resources; we thank you for committing yourself to learning from this website. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us in the Office of Water Information.
