sutra-gui(1) U.S. Geological Survey (wrdapp) sutra-gui(1) NAME sutra-gui - Preprocessor and postprocessor graphical-user interface for preparing SUTRA input data and for viewing model output for use within Argus Open Numerical Environments (Argus ONE) ABSTRACT SUTRA-GUI is a graphical preprocessor and postprocessor for the U.S. Geological Survey's SUTRA code (for saturated and (or) unsaturated, constant or variable-density fluid flow, and solute or energy transport modeling). SUTRA-GUI is implemented as a plug-in extension (PIE) code for use with Argus ONE version 4.0, or later. This USGS PIE code is freely available to the public. Argus ONE is a commercially-available package for numerical model mesh generation that has GIS-like (Geographic Information Systems) functionality. Although the Argus ONE package runs on a variety of computing platforms, the SUTRA-GUI PIE, developed by USGS, is only available for systems running Microsoft Windows 9x or NT. Note: The SUTRA-GUI only works with Version V09972D of the SUTRA code and not with earlier versions of SUTRA. References to commercial vendors of software products or services are provided solely for the convenience of users when obtaining or using U.S. Geological Survey software. Such references do not imply any endorsement by the U.S. Government. HISTORY Version 1.02 1999/01/17 - Fixed bugs in export of TSTART, DELT, NREG, and LREG. Workaround was added for the export of the PVEC array which Argus ONE exported incorrectly if the number of members in the array was a multiple of four. Added keyboard shortcut for selecting "Run SUTRA" from the PIEs menu. Version 1.01 1997/10/24 - Initial release. DATA REQUIREMENTS The data required in the main two SUTRA data files must be entered into the SUTRA-GUI in an interactive manner. See the SUTRA code documentation for a detailed description of input data. Data may be entered interactively in a graphical manner, or may be imported from text, DXF, or ArcView-Shape files. A Fortran compiler and reprogramming of subroutines BCTIME and UNSAT are required to implement time-dependent boundary conditions and unsaturated flow functions, respectively. OUTPUT OPTIONS Output produced by the SUTRA-GUI is a complete set of files for use as input files for SUTRA. Both irregular and regular "fishnet" finite-element mesh types may be generated. Additionally, the 21 Jan 1999 1 sutra-gui(1) U.S. Geological Survey (wrdapp) sutra-gui(1) graphical postprocessor provides contour and vector plots of the SUTRA simulation results. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SUTRA-GUI is compiled for use with Argus ONE version 4.0, or later, on personal computers running Microsoft Windows 9x or NT.
