NAME
       hydie - Hydraulic information exchange program

ABSTRACT
       The HYDIE program computes tables of hydraulic properties for use in
       one-dimensional numerical flow models.  Properties computed include
       area, top width, wetted perimeter, conveyance, velocity coefficient,
       momentum coefficient, sinuosity, and flow depth.  Either stage,
       area, or depth can be selected as the independent variable for
       computations.  Properties can be computed for subdivided cross
       sections that have complex geometries.

DATA REQUIREMENTS
       Measurements of geometry, roughness, and sinuosity of a channel
       cross section.  Modified input files either for WSPRO, a computer
       program for water-surface profile computations, or for XHYDRP, a
       computer program for analyzing cross-section properties, are used as
       inputs.

OUTPUT OPTIONS
       Tables of computed hydraulic properties.  Two preset table formats
       for the BRANCH and HYDRAUX flow models are available.  Customized
       tables can be constructed according to user specifications.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
       HYDIE is written in Fortran 77 with the following extension:  use of
       variable names longer than 6 characters.  Generally, the program is
       easily adapted to most computer systems.  The code has been used on
       UNIX-based computers, Macintosh, and DOS-based 386 or greater
       computers having a math coprocessor and 2 mb of memory.
