USGS Library for S-PLUS for Windows

Description of Release 4.0:

Release 4.0 of the U.S. Geological Survey S-PLUS library supercedes release 2.1. It comprises functions, dialogs, and datasets used in the U.S. Geological Survey for the analysis of water-resources data. This version does not contain ESTREND, which was in version 2.1. See Release 2.1 for information and access to that version.

This library requires Release 8.1 or later of S-PLUS for Windows. S-PLUS is a commercial statistical and graphical analysis software package produced by TIBCO corporation(http://www.tibco.com/).

The USGS library is not supported by TIBCO or its technical support staff.

Contributors to Release 4.0:

The computer code and documentation in this library are the work of many hydrologists, computer programmers, and data analysts in the USGS. The primary contributors are:

Installing Release 4.0 of the USGS Library:

1. Stop S-PLUS if it is running.
2. If you are upgrading from a previous version of the USGS Library, delete the S_HOME\local\library\USGS directory. This is typically \Program Files\TIBCO\splus81\local\library\USGS.
3. Download USGS-4.0.zip (size 3,262 KB).
4. In some directory (e.g. C:\Temp), unzip USGS-4.0.zip. This creates a directory called USGS which contains a dozen or so files and a .Data directory.
5. Copy the entire USGS directory to S_HOME\local\library\USGS, which is typically C:\Program Files\TIBCO\splus81\local\library\USGS.
6. From the USGS directory, move the file S.init into \Program Files\TIBCO\splus81\local or equivalent. This forces the automatic loading of the USGS library (functions, dialogs, datasets, and Help) when S-PLUS is started.

Release 2.1

Release 2.1 of the U.S. Geological Survey S-PLUS library comprises functions, dialogs, and datasets used in the U.S. Geological Survey for the analysis of water-resources data.

This library requires Release 6.1 to 8.0 of S-PLUS for Windows. Some applications in this library may not work in Release 8.1 of S-PLUS because of changes to S-PLUS functions in that release. S-PLUS is a commercial statistical and graphical analysis software package produced by TIBCO corporation(http://www.tibco.com/).

The USGS library is not supported by TIBCO or its technical support staff.
