MEMORANDUM
August 10, 2000
To:    Data Chiefs
GIS Specialists

From:    Thomas H. Yorke /signed/
Chief, Office of surface Water

Subject:    Cyber Seminar Invitation

A Cyber-seminar is scheduled for August 16, 2000, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time to explain tasks related to the development of an NSIP station list and to demonstrate the ArcMap software being used in this effort. We would like all Data Chiefs and GIS Specialists to attend this Cyber-seminar if at all possible.

You (the Data Chiefs) should have already received a CD with the ArcMap application. If you have not received your CD, please contact Jim Kolva at 703-648-5225 or email jrkolva immediately. We have had some reports of damaged or corrupted CDs and would like the GIS specialists to test run the disk prior to the seminar (see attached instructions). Because of different coverages needed, special instructions and procedures will be sent to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska by September 1, 2000.

To attend the Cyber-seminar please follow these steps:

  1. Login to http://usgs.contigo.com/ using a java enabled browser, either Internet Explorer 3.02+ or Netscape Navigator 3.04+. Please test your browser beforehand using the check program on the Webpage.
  2. Login as an attendee to event GSjrkolva.
  3. Call the Reston Audio Bridge at 703-648-4848. The conference code number is 40868 and the confirmation number is 3897.
  4. Put your phone on mute to decrease background noise.

There will be a chat box to ask questions during the seminar and other details will be explained at the start of the seminar.

We are limited to 48 ports, so we ask that only one login be used in each District. Please login early so we can start promptly at 1:00 p.m. The seminar should last about 2 hours.

Thank you for your help in this important effort. We will "see" you at the Cyber-seminar on August 16. If you have any questions please call Jim Kolva at 703-648-5225 or email to jrkolva.
