release.txt Groundwater Toolbox Release Notes This file describes changes introduced into the USGS Groundwater Toolbox with each official release. Version 1.3.1; May 26, 2017 A small bug was found in the version 1.3 release in which some of the existing source code was not correctly loaded into the released version. The bug was corrected. This version also includes a new tutorial that describes two new enhancements to the Toolbox: 1. the 'Get Newest' option to download the most recent time-series data for an existing project and 2. an update to the software that allows time-series values generated in Interactive mode of the Base-Flow Separation functionality to be easily reloaded into a new Toolbox session. Version 1.3; April 15, 2017 This version includes the following enhancements: a. The addition of two digital-filtering techniques (the SWAT Bflow and Eckhardt approaches) for hydrograph separation (see tutorial 'Digital_Filters.pdf' in the docs\Tutorials subdirectory). b. An update to the RECESS functionality to estimate a basin-wide base-flow recession constant and master recession curve, particularly enhancements to the generation and presentation of master recession curves (see tutorial 'RECESS_update.pdf' in the docs\Tutorials subdirectory). Version 1.2; October 1, 2016 This version includes the following enhancements and changes: a. Batch-file Processing and other modifications for Hydrograph-Separation Analyses (see tutorial 'Hydrograph_Separation_Updates.pdf' in the docs\Tutorials subdirectory). b. Added improved functionality to work with time-series data, including the base-flow and runoff time series calculated by the Hydrograph-Separation methods. This functionality includes updates to the Kendall-Tau trends functionality and preprocessing of time series using subsetting, splitting, and other manipulations (see tutorial 'Updated_TimeSeries_Functionality.pdf'in the docs\Tutorials subdirectory). c. Modifications to the software to be able to work with changes made by the USGS in June 2016 related to the RDB (relational data base) formatting of streamgage data. Version 1.1.1; October 20, 2015 The functionality of this version is the same as version 1.1. The software was modified to access new locations of the data coverages on U.S. Environmental Protection Agency computers. Version 1.1; April 30, 2015 This version includes fixes to a bug that were causing Periodic Groundwater Levels to plot incorrectly. Some users also had noted flow-duration curves that did not plot correctly, and those problems have been resolved. This version also includes two tutorials on how to import streamflow data into the Groundwater Toolbox. These tutorials were prepared in response to several queries to the code developers regarding how to import streamflow data that are not archived in the USGS NWIS system. Both tutorials use as examples streamflow data stored in Excel files. The tutorials are located in the 'docs\Tutorials' subdirectory. Also, the initial version of the GW Toolbox had an Open Data option to read input from an Excel file. That functionality was not working as intended and has been removed. Version 1.0; January 9, 2015 Initial release of software. Build date of software is January 5, 2015. Note that when using the 'County' option to build a new Groundwater Toolbox project, a dialog box may appear that indicates that there are no nhd (National Hydrography Dataset) data available for Hydrologic Unit Code 01100007 (Long Island Sound. Connecticut). That dialog box can be ignored (hit 'OK'), and the build process should continue successfully. Also note that the 'States' option to build a new Groundwater Toolbox project is not fully functional for some states. Users are advised to avoid using this option until further notice.
