GWRP Model Archive Instructions

This archive is intended for the GWRP internal reference (backup) and is not meant to supersede the policy requirements for archiving groundwater flow and transport models. Office of Groundwater Technical Memos describe USGS policies for archiving groundwater flow models. The appropriate model data and related information are to be stored in a permanent, well-documented manner to ensure their continued availability. No new requirements are being made of the Project Chief.

Storing individual investigator's groundwater flow model data and information on this duplicate GWRP model archive has several benefits:

  1. Model data and information are organized in a consistent manner;
  2. Information about each model archive is displayed in a user-friendly and easily accessible manner; and
  3. The archive provides an important backup for capturing and retrieving this valuable material developed over many years.

Subsequent models will be added to the archive as regional groundwater availability studies are completed. Collectively, these models will provide the foundation for a national assessment of groundwater availability.

  1. A "Report" archive contains the Professional Paper summary report only and no model archives. A "Report & Model" archive contains a model documentation report and a complete copy of the associated model.
  2. These studies did not produce separate model documentation reports. Therefore the archive contains the Professional Paper and all model archive files.
