Click to hide Water-Year Summary instructions and information
  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

LOCATION - Lat 44°39'12", long 92°42'36" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 NE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.26, T.114 N., R.16 W., Goodhue County, MN, Hydrologic Unit 07040001, on east bank of Clear Lake and 0.9 miles above lake output to Vermillion River.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 16.85 ft. Upper casing diameter 2.04 in; top of first opening 12.05 ft, bottom of last opening 16.35 ft. The hole for well PI98-04 was drilled with an 8.25-inch-diameter, hydraulic rotary drill rig, on 31 August 1998 to a depth of 19 feet. The well is constructed of a 4.3-feet-long, 2.04-inch-diameter, schedule-40 PVC, 0.010-inch slotted, flush-threaded screen attached to 12.05 feet of 2.04-inch-diameter, schedule-40 PVC casing. The casing stickup was 3.82 feet above land surface on 08 November 2005. The open interval of the well is 12.05 - 16.35 feet below land surface and the total well depth is 16.85 feet.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 685.4 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: MP is mark on cap ring on protection post, not shattered casing., 3.82 ft above land-surface datum, Nov. 8, 2005, to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water levels are recorded periodically from 31 August 1998 to the present. Quarter-hourly water levels were recorded from 08 November 2005 at 14:00 CDT to 07 June 2014 at 07:00 CDT, except during the following period:

Periodic gaps from 28 Jan. 2007 - 29 Aug. 2007: Unknown reason
Periodic gaps from 11 May 2009 - 07 Jun. 2009: Unknown reason
10 Jan. at 07:45 CDT - 29 April 2013 at 14:15 CDT: Station battery fuse was blown.

When possible, missing daily-average water levels (above) were accurately estimated based on the trend of the hydrograph during these periods.
GAGE - Water level is measured with a Design Analysis H-310 submersible pressure transducer accurate to 0.01 feet. Battery voltage are measured by a Sutron Satlink2 DCP, which also records all data quarter-hourly. The data logger is housed in a 2 ft. x 1.5 ft. x 6 ft. Hoffman look-in type shelter, positioned 170 ft. SE of the PI98-04. The transducer communications cable is buried from the well to the shelter, where it's wired into the data logger. The gage is powered by a 1.2 ampere solar panel and the data is transmitted via GOES satellite telemetry at 4-hour intervals.
COOPERATION - Well PI98-04 is operated by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Prairie Island Indian Community. The monitoring well is part of a network of monitoring wells; used to collect water quality and water quantity data for the Prairie Island Indian Community.
