16057900 Waiahi Stream upsteam of Upper Powerhouse, Kauai, HI
LOCATION - Lat 22°01'21.7", long 159°27'54.2" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Kauai County, HI, Hydrologic Unit 20070000, 3.1 miles north of Papuaa Reservoir, 4.2 miles west of Kapaia Reservoirs, and 5 miles southwest of Wailua Reservoir. The data logger is located on the left bank of Waiahi Stream.
DRAINAGE AREA - 4.09 mi². delineated in StreamStats.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 2015 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with self-cleaning control. Section control at the gage on the left bank and transitions to channel control on the right bank. Elevation of gage is 815 feet above mean sea level by topographic map. Prior to July 10, 2020, gage located 80 feet downstream.
COOPERATION - Station was established as part of a surface-water availability study done in cooperation with the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Commission on Water Resource Management.
REMARKS - This was a continuous low-flow station with a maximum reporting limit of 130 ft³/s until July 10, 2020.  Site was relocated approximately 80 feet upstream and converted to a continuous surface water station.  Gage datum changed +3 feet. No diversions upstream.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 3,700 ft³/s, February 19, 2021, gage-height, 9.44 ft; minimum discharge, 9.1 ft³/s, on many days. Prior to July 10, 2020, only minimum mean daily discharge was reported. Minimum mean daily discharge prior to July 10, 2020 is 10.7 ft³/s, March 10, 2016.
