         The file is sorted on the hydrologic unit code (columns 1-8).

Columns  Format  Contents

  1-2     I2     Region code - The Water Resources Council region code
                    identifying each of the 21 major hydrologic basins of the
                    U.S.  It is the first two digits of the hydrologic unit
                    code (HUC).
  3-4     I2     Subregion code - The two digit code identifying the subregion
                    within the region.  It is the third and fourth digits of
                    the HUC.  This field is blank for a region.
  5-6     I2     Accounting unit code - The two digit code identifying the
                    accounting unit within the subregion.  It is the fifth and
                    sixth digits of the HUC.  This field is blank for a region
                    or subregion.
  7-8     I2     Cataloging unit code - The two digit code identifying the
                    cataloging within the accounting unit.  It is the seventh
                    and eighth digits of the HUC.  This field is blank for a
                    region, subregion, or accounting unit.
  9-18    I10    Drainage area in square miles for the cataloging unit - blank
                    otherwise.
 19-28    I10    Drainage area in square miles for the accounting unit - blank
                    otherwise.
 29-38    I10    Drainage area in square miles for the subregion - blank
                    otherwise.
 39-48    I10    Drainage area in square miles for the region - blank
                    otherwise.


Note:

   Subregion 2010 is not an official subregion and is not included in the file.


Conversion factor:

   Multiply square miles by 2.590 to obtain square kilometers.
