Utility of Existing SPARROW Models for TMDL

• NASQAN data are sufficient for identifying processes (e.g., soils and in-stream decay) at the catalog-unit-scale

  • SPARROW useful for TMDLs on large rivers having extensive basins where HSPF modeling is difficult or expensive
  • SPARROW useful for TMDLs addressing coastal loadings
  • SPARROW provides good first look at major source contribution areas
