This archive contains three folders: 1) fluxmaster These are the SAS programs and data files that were used to estimate the calibration loads for the MRB7 SPARROW models. Version 1.2 of Fluxmaster (March, 2008) was used to estimate these loads. Potential calibration sites for the MRB7 SPARROW models were selected by considering the adequacy of their water-quality record, their proximity to USGS gages with adequate streamflow records, and their proximity to other water-quality stations. Details for the process are provided in: Saad, D.A., G.E. Schwarz, D.M. Robertson, and N.L. Booth, 2010. A Multi-Agency Nutrient Dataset Used to Estimate Loads, Improve Monitoring Design, and Calibrate Regional Nutrient SPARROW Models. Journal of the American Water Resources Association, doi: 10.1111/j.1752-1688.2011.00574.x. The folder wq_compilation contains all of the water-quality data obtained through querying federal, state, and local data bases (wq_data.zip) and the SAS programs used to process those data. There are four data compilation programs tha need to be run in sequence. The prefix for each program indicates its order in the sequence. The output from this process is the water-quality data file that was used in Fluxmaster. The file fluxmaster_wq_input.zip contains two SAS data sets: a) the site file that was used in Fluxmaster (mrb7_site_file_09_08) and b) the water-quality data file that was used in Fluxmaster final_flux_data.sas7bdat). The file fluxmaster_q_input.zip contains the streamflow files used in Fluxmaster, and are stored in a folder named streamflow_09_09. The file predict_flux_all.sas7bdatp contains the results from the Fluxmaster model. 2) SPARROW_input This folder contains the SAS programs used to compile the file used as input for the MRB7 SPARROW models and the resulting SPARROW input file. There are three programs which should be run in sequence. We have added comments to the SAS code that provide a reference for each of the data sources used in the compilation of the SPARROW input file. mrb7_make_data_2009_08_20.sas (first): this program reads in geospatial data related to the RF1 stream network, nutrient loading to land, point-source nutrient loading to streams, land use data, and landscape physical properties. update_data1_final.sas (second): this program reads the output file created by mrb7_make_data_2009_08_20.sas (data1.sas7bdat), performs data manipulations, compiles some additional data, removes invalid calibration loads, and creates the input data set (data1mod.sas7bdat) that was used for the MRB7 SPARROW models. extract_model_data.sas (third, but optional): this program reads the output file created by update_data1_final.sas (update_data1_final.sas) and extracts only those variables needed to run the MRB7 SPARROW models. A SPARROW input data set is created (data1mod_final.sas7bdat) that can be read by the SPARROW control files. The file data1_files.zip contains copies of data1mod.sas7bdat and data1mod_final.sas7bdat. 3) SPARROW_control files: These are the two control files used to run the MRB7 SPARROW models: total nitrogen: sparrow_control_mrb7_TN_NLLS.sas, and total phosphorus: sparrow_control_mrb7_TP_NLLS.sas. Also included is a text file (control_file_variable_descriptions.txt) that provides some details on the variables used in the models. These control files are configured with the variable if_adjust set to "no", which means that the accumulated load is not reset in reaches containing calibration stations. This configuration was used when estimating the relative contribution from different sources to the total innstream load. This variable was set to "yes" when estimating nutrient yields and flow-weighted concentrations. Wise, D.R. and H. M. Johnson, 2011.
