# METADATA Data Description:
#
# ABSTRACT:	This data set contains nutrient sources and landscpape characteristics for the
#	full drainage area for each site. Additional modifications were made to the data
#	in the original retrieval; these modifications are detailed in Sprague and others, 2006
#	(SIR 2006-5231). The data were used in a report documenting trends in the Missouri River Basin
#	as part of the U.S. Geological Survey, National Water-Quality Assessment Program.
#
#
# SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
# PROCEDURES USED:
#	PROCESS STEP:
#
#	To use the data for nutrient sources and landscape characteristics in weighted least-squares
#	regression, a single number representing the change in a given data series over time was
#	generated. When a data series had more than two observations (for example, an annual data
#	series for fertilizer), the Sen slope estimate for that series was determined for each site.
#	The Sen slope estimate was calculated as the median of all possible pairwise slopes (Helsel
#	and Hirsch, 1992). When a data series had only two observations (for example, 1990 and 2000
#	estimates of population density), the percentage change between the first year and the last
#	year was determined for each site.
#
#	The data in this file (for all fields except pointsc.n.100.slope) were obtained from one of
#	2 NAWQA websites (http://water.wr.usgs.gov/pnsp/gis/data/swancil/mrb.html, or
#	http://water.wr.usgs.gov/pnsp/gis/data/swancil/cycle2.html). These two websites contained
#	data that had originally been compiled from other external sources, which are listed below
#	in the field descriptions and further described in Sprague and others, 2006 (SIR 2006-5231).
#	Data processing procedures are also described in Sprague and others, 2006 (SIR 2006-5231).

#	Original data for point sources of nitrogen (pointsc.n.100.slope) were obtained from
#	http://www.epa.gov/enviro/html/pcs/. Data were processed as described in Appendix 1 of
#	Sprague and others, 2006 (SIR 2006-5231). Total N from all point sources within each site
#	basin were aggregated and summed to provide an annual time series of point source N for
#	each site. These data are in the archive file MRB4A.ptsrc.N.txt.
