Maps of 1991 study unit LUS and SUS boundaries, wells, and updated land use

These are plots of the 1991 NAWQA land use study (LUS) and study unit survey (SUS) polygons. The National Synthesis Team looked at these maps as part of the ground water GIS data verification process and compiled a list of comments and questions based on their impressions of the maps. The areas depicted on the maps might change in response to the data verification process.

The master list of netcodes for "window-pane" analysis is maintained by Curtis Price. I have prepared a map for each SUCODE on the list that is not an "aggregate" or a "subset." I have included some SUCODEs that were dropped from the study unit summary reports.

The plots show:

• Land use (1970's land use updated with 1990 population to indicate new residential development)
• Wells (also some springs; all are labeled "wells" in the explanation)
• Netcode
• Network description
• Land use percentages (the percentage of each type of land use within the GW polygon)

1. Land use percentages are based on the areas in the GW polygon coverage that are coded as being in the GW study area (SUCODE is not blank). Land use category "missing/not coded" is not shown in the explanation.
2. Blank areas on the land use map could arise in the following ways:
   • The area is coded as "not in the GW polygon" (SUCODE = blank).
   • The area is coded as "missing/not coded" in the land use coverage.
3. As of 7/16/97, I do not have GW polygon coverages for these SUCODES:

   I have completed maps for all the other SUCODES.
