This page contains various coverages and tables pertaining to ancillary data for ground water sampling sites in the NAWQA study units that began in 1991. As of October 1998, some of the ancillary data layers (excluding land use) also contain sites in study units that began in 1994.
This coverage was supplied by Curtis Price on October 6, 1998. This is a single coverage of ALL FY91 and FY94 sites (7,143 stations of all types) included in the netsite and site files as of that date. The INFO file called sites.net shows which stations are in each network.
We tried to get all of the ground water sampling sites by selecting stations from the national synthesis data base according to:
C802 = "SP" or
C802 = "GW") or
SUCODE = "LUS"
or "SUS" or "SPR" or "FPS" or "SPC")
This resulted in a data set of 2992 ground water sampling locations.
To analyze a particular network, select the group of appropriate station ids (STAIDs) for that network.
The locations of the ground water sampling stations are available as "points" and as "regions" (buffers around the points).
The main theme of each coverage is land use updated with 1990 population data. The land use information is supplemented with look up tables that have land use codes within each well buffer, county codes within each well buffer, and county weighting factors. These coverages are the basis for the land use summary table listed under "Ancillary Data."
10/06/98-Files updated for CNBRSUS2 and include all CNBR sites (SW and GW).The summary table of land use within well buffers was prepared using the coverages available above.
* I had to process the land use and population data by study unit because the coverages containing land use updated by population are organized by study unit. (That is, there is no national coverage of land use and population.)
