This data set consists of character and thickness of surficial Quaternary sediments in the glaciated United States east of the Rocky Mountains for NAWQA sampling sites. The surficial Q sediments data set is from Soller (2001). The sampling sites are from the NAWQA data warehouse.
This is one of the ancillary GIS data layers developed to characterize NAWQA sampling sites for national synthesis of water-quality data.
The source data covers only the glaciated area of the conterminous United States east of the Rocky Mountains.

The data set is organized by STAID (station id).
The fields are:

CODETHICK Total thickness of Quaternary sediments, in feet.
These values represent an interval (e.g., 50-100 ft),
not a precise value at a particular location.
SOURCETHICK Brief citation of source map
CODEQSURF Character (texture) of surficial Quaternary sediments.
In areas of sufficient information, the data does
not include thin surficial units;
SOURCEQSURF Brief citation of source map
