Subject:	National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program 
		National Ground Water GIS Data Aggregation Request


Purpose:        Transmit guidelines for ground water GIS data aggregation to
                GAFL, HDSN, LINJ, MISE, PUGT, RIOG, SACR, SANT, SCTX, SPLT, UMIS 
                study units
                

COVERAGES REQUESTED BY MAY 18, 2007


This memorandum describes the location and content of the guidance for
preparing cycle 2 ground water GIS coverages for national aggregation
and is directed to GAFL, HDSN, LINJ, MISE, PUGT, RIOG, SACR, SANT, 
SCTX, SPLT, and UMIS study units.

The purpose of the GIS request is to update and populate NAWQA's
national GIS data archive for recently completed LUS and MAS ground
water studies.  At this time, we are requesting GIS boundary coverages
and metadata for studies completed since FY05, such as:

  --New Land Use Studies (LUS) and Major Aquifer Studies (MAS) 
  --Resampled LUS and MAS that were revised for cycle 2


Guidelines and Procedures

Guidelines, formats, and procedures that should be used to prepare and
transmit the requested GIS boundaries and metadata are available at

questions.
