Subject:   National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program 
           National Groundwater GIS Data Aggregation Request


Purpose:   Transmit guidelines for groundwater GIS data aggregation to
           DELR, KANS, MOBL, SCTX, SACR, SOFL, TENN, YELL
           study units
                

COVERAGES REQUESTED BY MARCH 10, 2011


This memorandum describes the location and content of the guidance for preparing
cycle 2 groundwater GIS coverages for national aggregation and is directed to 
DELR, KANS, MOBL, SCTX, SACR, SOFL, TENN, and YELL study units.

The purpose of the GIS request is to update and populate NAWQA's national GIS 
data archive for completed LUS and MAS Groundwater Status and Trends studies. At
this time, we are requesting GIS boundary coverages, SAMPLE.AML equal-area cell 
("subarea") coverages and metadata for studies completed since FY07, such as:

  --New Land Use Studies (LUS) and Major Aquifer Studies (MAS) 


Guidelines and Procedures

Guidelines, formats, and procedures that should be used to prepare and transmit
the requested GIS coverages and metadata are available at the following URL.
