# METADATA Data Description:
#
# ABSTRACT: This is a table with data that was used in the report 'Estimated Withdrawals from Stream-Valley
#	Aquifers and Refined Estimated Withdrawals from Selected Aquifers in the United States, 2000',
#	(Sargent and others, SIR 2008-5003). The table is a summary of estimated withdrawals that were
#	reported as from either the Alluvial Princial Aquifer, or as from the Other aquifers (Not a Principal
#	Aquifer in the 2000 report, Maupin and Barber, 2005). These withdrawals were allocated to stream-valley
#	aquifers associated with a major river and then aggregated into Water Resources Regions (WRR). The table
#	shows the WRR; the major river, creek, or area for which alluvial aquifers are associated;
#	the total withdrawals for irrigation, self-supplied industrial and public supply uses, and a grand total.
#	All data are in in million gallons per day. The table summarizes withdrawals for the 8 Water Resources
#	Regions in the lower 48 conterminous United States. There are 62 records, each record represents an unique
#	combination of WRR, major river, creek or area, and withdrawals for the three uses and a total.
#
#	Original published estimated withdrawals from Alluvial Aquifers (a PA) or Other aquifers are from
#	Maupin and Barber (2005) and were collected as part of the 2000 National Water Use Information Program
#	compilation (published in Estimated Withdrawals from Principal Aquifers in the United States,
#	2000: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 1279, 45p. locted at http://pubs.er.usgs.gov/usgs/pubs/cir/cir1279/).
#
#
# SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
# PROCEDURES USED: Data were exported from national AWUDS (Aggregated Water Use Data System) datasets that were
#	submitted for the 2000 compilation report. Each State of the 20 States that are part of this study had a separate
#	excel file. The separate files were aggregated into one file with data for the Principal Aquifers and withdrawals
#	for the 3 categories of use.
#
#	PROCESS STEP:
#
# Original withdrawal data were reported in Maupin and Barber (2005). States with withdrawals for Alluvial
#	and Other aquifers were targetted, but withdrawals from all aquifers are listed. As part of this study, original
#	withdrawals for Alluvial and Other aquifers were re-allocated to stream-valley aquifers associated with a
#	major river through analysis of data and information from each State. See Appendix 1 (Sargent and others, 2008)
#	for details about data sources for each State.
