# METADATA Data Description:
#
# ABSTRACT: This is table 3 in the report 'Estimated Withdrawals from Stream-Valley Aquifers and Refined
#	Estimated Withdrawals from Selected Aquifers in the United States, 2000', (Sargent and others,
#	SIR 2008-5003). The table is a summary of estimated withdrawals from Alluvial and Other Principal
#	Aquifers (PA) that have been allocated to stream-valley aquifers associated with a mjor river.
#	The table shows the State, the stream-valley aquifers by name, and withdrawals for irrigation, self-
#	supplied industrial and public supply uses, for 2000, in million gallons per day. The table summarizes
#	withdrawals for the 20 States that were studied in the project. There are 103 records, each record represents
#	an unique combination of State, aquifer bearing unit, and withdrawals for the three categories of use.
#
#	Original published estimated withdrawals from Alluvial Aquifers (a PA) or Other aquifers are from
#	Maupin and Barber (2005) and were collected as part of the 2000 National Water Use Information Program
#	compilation (published in Estimated Withdrawals from Principal Aquifers in the United States,
#	2000: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 1279, 45p. locted at http://pubs.er.usgs.gov/usgspubs/cir/cir1279/).
#
#	Footnote #1 regards Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer withdrawals for Arkansas, and says, "Total
#	withdrawals from Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer do not equal total in appendix 1 because about
#	25 Mgal/d were identified to be from stream-valley aquifers associated with the listed rivers."
#
#
#	Footnote #2 regards the total for Colorado withdawals, and says, "Total withdrawals are greater than
#	total Alluvial aquifers withdrawals in appendix 2 because withdrawals from Other aquifers are assigned
#	to stream-valley aquifers associated with rivers or eolian sand and isolated terrace deposits."
#
#	Footnote #3 says, "Illinois State Water Survey's Public-Industrial-Commercial Database was a source
#	of water-use data."
#
#	Footnote #4 is for Utah and says, "Total public-supply withdrawals in this table are greater than total
#	public-supply withdrawals from Alluvial aquifers (appendix 2) because 0.77 Mgal/d from Basin and Range
#	basin-fill aquifers were assigned to Alluvial aquifers. Total withdrawals also are greater."
#
#
# SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
# PROCEDURES USED:
#	PROCESS STEP:
# Original withdrawal data were obtained from Maupin and Barber (2005). States with withdrawals for Alluvial
#	and Other aquifers were chosen. Original withdrawals were re-allocated to stream-valley aquifers
#	associated with a major river through analysis of data and information from each State. See Appendix 1
#	(Sargent and others, 2008) for details about data sources for each State.
