# METADATA Data Description:
#
# ABSTRACT: This is table 1 in the report 'Estimated Withdrawals from Stream-Valley Aquifers and Refined
#	Estimated Withdrawals from Selected Aquifers in the United States, 2000', (Sargent and others,
#	SIR 2008-5003). The table is a summary of original and revised estimates of withdrawals from
#	principal aquifers (PA) and Other aquifers in the US for the calendar year 2000. The table shows
#	the originally published estimated withdrawals from Alluvial Aquifers (a PA) or Other aquifers
#	(Maupin and Barber, 2005). The Alluvial and Other aquifer withdrawals were attributed to stream-valley
#	aquifers.
#
#	The table summarizes the total estimated withdrawals from stream-valley aquifers associated with major rivers,
#	for the 20 states studied in this report.
#
#	All withdrawals are in millions of gallons per day (Mgal/d). The original estimated withdrawals were
#	from the 2000 National Water Use Information Program compilation and reported in Maupin and Barber,
#	2005 (Maupin and Barber, 2005, Estimated Withdrawals from Principal Aquifers in the United States,
#	2000: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 1279, 45p. locted at http://pubs.er.usgs.gov/usgspubs/cir/cir1279/).
#
#	The table shows the revised withdrawal for each State that was investigated in this project. The table shows
#	the difference between the revised and original withdrawals, and how the revised withdrawals are assigned to
#	stream-valley aquifers. Not all principal aquifers or Other aquifers for all States in the US are shown,
#	only those included in this project. There are 20 States and 27 records in this table.
#
#	A footnote to the table 1 states "Total withdrawals for Alluvial aquifers in Utah increased by 0.77 Mgal/d
#	from Basin and Range basin-fill aquifers to equal 7.50 Mgal/d withdrawals shown in table 3."
#
# SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
# PROCEDURES USED:
#	PROCESS STEP:
# Original withdrawal data was obtained from Maupin and Barber (2005). States with withdrawals for Alluvial
#	and Other aquifers were chosen. Through analysis of data and information from each State, sometimes a revised
#	estimate of the previously published withdrawal was concluded. See Appendix 1 (Sargent and others, 2008)
#	for details about data sources for each State.
