Summary

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Bathymetric data were collected using a boat-mounted Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), a type of differential global positioning system, echo depth-sounding equipment, and computer software. Data were exported into a geographic information system and converted into a point layer. Purpose

The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC), conducted a bathymetric survey of Breckenridge Reservoir in March 2009. The survey was conducted to provide the USMC Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs with information regarding reservoir storage capacity and general bathymetric properties. The bathymetric survey can provide a baseline for future work on sediment loads and deposition rates for the reservoir.
