Purpose

The intended use of the data is to depict the locations of the Congressional Districts. Knowing the locations and extents of the Congressional Districts allows us to overlay them with locations of programs and project areas of the U.S. Geological Survey. For example, the National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) program obtained the Congressional District coverages to see the relation between the NAWQA study units and the Congressional Districts and to present NAWQA findings about water quality in terms of Congressional Districts.
