Monthly and daily twelve-digit hydrologic unit code aggregations of the WRF-Hydro modeling application with CONUS404BA Atmospheric Forcings, 1979-2022

Domain: Hydrology

Spatial Resolution: NA

Temporal Frequency: daily; monthly

Temporal Coverage: 1979 - 2022

Spatial Extent: CONUS

Source: USGS

Update Type: Static

Access: sciencebase.gov NC

Description:

This data release contains spatially and temporally aggregated data from a particular application of the Weather Research and Forecasting hydrological model (WRF-Hydro; Gochis and others, 2025) from water year 1980 through 2022 for the conterminous United States (Rafieeinasab and others, 2026). This modeling application is climatologically forced with a modified version of the CONUS404 that is downscaled to one-kilometer and bias-adjusted for precipitation and temperature (Zhang and others, 2025).

In this data release, we present total monthly precipitation, snowfall, evapotranspiration, recharge, baseflow, quickflow, total flow, and average monthly soil water, fractional soil saturation, snow water equivalent, and groundwater storage data that are summarized to twelve-digit hydrologic unit code (HUC12) polygons. Monthly data can be found in “huc12_monthly_wrfhydro_conus404ba_WY1980_2022.nc”. We also present daily snow water equivalent and fractional soil moisture at the HUC12 polygons (“huc12_daily_wrfhydro-conus404ba_SWE.nc” and “huc12_daily_wrfhydro-conus404ba_avgSOILSAT_wltadj_top1.nc”, respectively). Data are stored in Network Common Data Form (netCDF) format.
