PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OK TX) Flooding in Oklahoma Texas Water Science Center

Date: Thu, 01 Oct 2026 11:35:38 EDT

Summary: Flood response-Oklahoma Texas Water Science Center due to remnants of Hurricane Polo.

Six crews are currently deployed across the Oklahoma–Texas Water Science Center in response to flooding associated with the remnants of Hurricane Polo. The system has delivered—and will continue to deliver—much‑needed rainfall to both states. Due to prolonged drought and limited initial runoff, only a small number of gaging stations have reached action stage or higher. As the system shifts south and east, periods of heavy rain are expected to continue, and we anticipate supporting flood‑response operations through the week. Data collected during this event will help refine stage‑discharge ratings.

San Angelo – 2 crews
• A two‑person crew is responding at 08140700 – Pecan Bayou near Cross Cut, TX and 08140860 – Jim Ned Creek at CR 140 near Coleman, TX.
• A three‑person crew is deployed to 08150000 – Llano River near Junction, TX (currently at minor flood stage) and 08149900 – South Llano River at Flat Rock Lane at Junction, TX.

Lubbock – 1 crew
• Sites include 07227700 – Canadian River near Fritch, TX; 07233500 – Palo Duro Creek near Spearman, TX; and possibly 07227500 – Canadian River near Amarillo, TX.

Fort Worth – 3 crews
• One crew is heading east to collect discharge measurements and verify stages at gages that are coming out of no‑flow conditions.
• Another crew is covering the Dallas area to monitor more responsive, flashy locations.
• The third crew is verifying stages at gages south of Fort Worth that are also coming out of no‑flow status.
