PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NJ) Nor'easter High Water

Date: Mon, 28 Sep 2026 12:04:59 EDT

Summary: Nor'easter brought heavy rain and wind to the East Coast

Heavy rain and wind impacted a large area of the East Coast from the Mid-Atlantic to New England. Sustained winds of 40 mph and 60 mph gusts affected the region for 3 days and many high tide cycles.

Six RDG's and 3 Hobo's were deployed in NJ as mentioned in a previous Project Alert. All 9 sites were in tidal environments. They were not deployed for a runoff event.

No issues to report to our continuous tidal elevation network. Provisional high tide peaks reached just over 6 ft NAVD88. We will be retrieving peaks from our tidal crest stage gage network in the next few days.

On the precipitation side of things, totals topped out at 7-8 inches in Eastern Monmouth County over 2 days.

Five crews totaling 8 people are out today getting high water discharge measurements.

No gages are down and no period of records to report.
