PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IN OH) Moderate flooding in Northeastern Indiana and Northwestern Ohio

Summary: Northeastern Indiana and Northwestern Ohio are experiencing moderate flooding conditions due to training thunderstorms moving through the area.

Training thunderstorms over the past 2 days have dropped up to 9 inches of rain over a narrow portion of Indiana and Ohio. Several gages are already at moderate flood stage with a few others forecast to be there soon.

The OKI Water Science Center currently has 1 crew (2 people) responding today making special measurements of discharge in the upper Wabash River basin. There is one gage down in the Ft. Wayne, IN area which won't be repairable until tomorrow.

OKI staff have been in contact with the National Weather Service and have taken manual readings at the down gage to support forecasting at that location until the site can be repaired. Response will continue into tomorrow with a crew making special measurements in Ohio on the St. Marys River.
