Summary: A team from the USGS Flagstaff office is flying into the Grand Canyon today to install a flood warning gage and collect data.
USGS field team will be conducting the following activities at Bright Angel Creek, Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon:
• Evaluate a new location for streamgage installation and deploy a temporary gage.
• Renew data collection efforts on Bright Angel Creek; collect discharge measurements if possible.
• Flag high-water marks, walking the entire reach near Phantom Ranch.
• Locate independent transducers/loggers deployed along Bright Angel Creek; download data and/or replace instruments as needed.
• Transducer data may be used to verify peaks.
• Three USGS employees and one NPS employee will be flying in by helicopter today.
