Summary: Minor to moderate flooding continues in northern Ohio and Indiana.
An additional 1 to nearly 2 inches of rain has fallen on already saturated soils in northern Ohio and northern Indiana yesterday. Most streams in northern parts of Ohio and Indiana are at least in the minor flood category and some are in moderate flood category. Most streams will crest today, just after the noon hour.
There are no peaks of record thus far however the priority today will be the Cuyahoga River (it is higher than yesterday) at Jaite and Old Portage. The measurement at Jaite today would be the highest measurement there ever (period of record is 14 years).
All gages are operating properly.
The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana WSC has seven crews (five from Ohio and two from Indiana) out measuring high water today. In addition to the aforementioned Cuyahoga River measurements, OKI plans to obtain high flows on the Mahoning River in northeastern Ohio, the Sandusky River in north central Ohio and the Portage River in northwest Ohio. Two crews in Indiana will obtain high flow measurements in the Upper Tippecanoe, St. Marys and Maumee Watersheds.
Cooperators in both states have been notified of our actions.
