Summary: Minor flooding is occurring in central and eastern Ohio.
Recent snowpack has melted thereby saturating the soils. On top of this, rainfall ranging from 3/4 inch to an inch and a half have bumped up many creeks and streams in Ohio. Many streams in central and eastern Ohio are in the "minor" flood category (NWS terminology).
USGS Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Water Science Center have 6 crews out measuring high water for this event, mainly to fill in rating gaps. Four USGS crews are in the Columbus and Newark Ohio area measuring Alum Creek, Blacklick Creek, and the Licking River and its forks.
The cities of Columbus and Newark have been notified of our actions. All measurements are being entered in NWS Slack.
