PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) USGS wrap-up after week of storms in CA

Summary: Today, USGS streamgages in CA are in recession after a week of storms

Precipitation continued throughout much of the state yesterday, although with less intense and duration than in previous days. Today, the USGS streamgage network in California is in recession, with five USGS stations still in Action stage.

Today, 1 USGS field person is measuring elevated flow at one streamgage and assessing one damaged streamgage for repair near Santa Barbara. After today, the USGS operations in California is expected to return to normal operations, including select recession measurements and making any temporary repairs permanent as needed.

The week of storms was very damaging to much of California, including four deaths directly attributed to the high winds and flooding. Areas of Los Angeles are expected to stay in flood watch for today.
