PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (KS) Flooding in Southeast Kansas

Summary: Heavy rain causes areal and riverine flooding throughout SE Kansas.

Heavy rains fell on Tuesday, June 3, with much of the state receiving greater than 2 inches. Along the I-35 corridor from Wichita, KS to Emporia, KS, a band of 6+ inches of rain fell in less than 24 hours.

16 streamgages are currently above flood stage with additional sites expected to exceed flood stage over the next 48 hours.

All streamgages throughout the affected areas remain operational.

Three crews from the Wichita Field Office, and 4 crews from the Lawrence Field Office are making measurements today with an anticipated additional 3 crews from Wichita and 3 crews from Lawrence making flood measurements on Thursday.
