PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IN KY) Ohio Valley flooding continues to recede as the larger rivers crest.

Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2025 13:55:05 EDT

Summary: The OKI Water Science Center beginning to wrap up flood response in Kentucky and Indiana but still measuring some final large river locations.

Flooding of varying magnitudes continues for an eighth day on larger rivers in Kentucky and Indiana but most will begin receding over the weekend. No significant rainfall is expected across the Ohio Valley which should provide time for the river system to continue to come down over the next week.

The OKI WSC has 5 crews out today making measurements in Kentucky and Indiana. One gage in Kentucky still down in a backwater area where crews had removed the equipment in anticipation of conditions inundating it. The down gage is not critical to any current flood response needs at the federal or local level.

16 measurements of discharge were made yesterday at impacted sites in the 2 states. The response in Indiana and Kentucky continues to focus on large rivers as the various crests move through the system but our response will largely be over by tomorrow so this will be the last Project Alert from our Center for this event.

Measurements, gage issues, and coordination continue with other major federal partners as needed.
