PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IN KY OH) Ohio Valley flooding beginning to recede in some places but not done yet.

Date: Tue, 08 Apr 2025 08:24:05 EDT

Summary: The OKI Water Science Center continues flood response in Kentucky and Indiana while operations are at an end in Ohio.

Flooding of varying magnitudes continues for a sixth day on larger rivers in Kentucky and Indiana but has largely receded for smaller watersheds. No significant rainfall is expected across the Ohio Valley which should provide time for the river system to continue to recede over the next week.

The OKI WSC has 7 crews out today making measurements in Kentucky and Indiana while the response to Ohio locations has come to an end. Two gages in Kentucky that were overtopped or damaged are still down with crews scheduled to repair them today. 25 measurements of discharge were made yesterday at impacted sites in all 3 states with one in Indiana being the highest ever collected. The response in Indiana and Kentucky is expected to continue through the rest of this week with the focus on large rivers as the various crests move through the system.

Measurements, gage issues, and coordination continue with other major federal partners as needed.
