Summary: USGS Teams respond to moderate and major high water in both Arkansas and Tennessee on 2-16-2025
Lower Mississippi-Gulf staff were in the field Sunday, February 16, 2025, in response to high water occurring in both Arkansas and Tennessee.
Arkansas:
One crew in Arkansas focused on collecting event driven water-quality samples at three locations in support of local public-supply municipalitiy.
Locations included:
1. Lk Maumelle at Mouth of Pigeon Roost Cr nr Wye, AR – 072632968
2. Bringle Creek at Martindale, AR - 072632962
3. Maumelle River near Wye, AR – 07263296
Another crew repaired or measured streamflow at the following locations:
1. Arkansas River at Dardanelle, AR – 07258000
2. Fourche La Fave River near Houston, AR - 07263115
Tennessee:
A crew in Tennessee measured,
Red River at Port Royal, TN – 03436100,
which reached the NWS Major Flooding category. The provisional peak stage was recorded at 45.59ft and the team measured 52,300cfs at a stage of 45.35ft. The measurement plotted within 3% of the existing rating and is third highest measurement at this location with yearly data back the early 1960s.
Two gages are currently down in Tennessee and will be repaired Tuesday, February 18, 2025
