PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (KY) Flooding forecast across a large portion of Kentucky over the weekend

Summary: Moderate to major flooding is forecasted across the majority of the state of Kentucky over the coming weekend.

Heavy rain is expected across Kentucky over the next 72 hours. Moderate to major flood category forecasts have been issued for the Kentucky River and Green River basins. Smaller watersheds will likely rise quickly during the initial onset of rain early Saturday morning while larger basins will begin to peak Sunday and into Monday.

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana has several crews on standby to respond to the event this weekend. USGS personnel will be in contact with National Weather Service and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel throughout the event to coordinate response efforts for all 3 agencies.
