Summary: CAWSC field crews measuring high flows after atmospheric river event

After a relatively dry January, an atmospheric river brought high precipitation to much of northern California, with more precipitation expected for the rest of the week. Two USGS streams reached minor flood levels, one reached action stage, and 19 are at near-flood levels. No streamgages are expected to reach a peak of record.

Field crews are out measuring discharge at stations with mid to higher flows: 4 teams of 7 people are measuring in the Russian River Basin; one team of 2 is measuring the Yuba River and Bear River out of the Sierra foothills; 2 teams of 4 are measuring in the Sacramento River Basin; 1 team of 2 are measuring the Mad River; and 1 person is troubleshooting a streamgage on the Klamath River.
