PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) Minor flooding, Northern CA

Date: Fri, 22 Nov 2024 12:42:02 EST

Summary: Bomb Cyclone and AR combined

Northern California to the Bay area. The Bomb Cyclone continues to spin of the NW Coast this morning sending waves into NW California with mostly residual amounts of precip. Yesterday was the 'main event' as the BC combined to pull moisture out of the Central Pacific and funnel it into the coast with copious amounts of rainfall.
Antecedent conditions were quite dry and this was the first real event of the season. As a result flows are elevated but no major flooding has occurred. Major basing affected are the Russian, Eel, Trinity and Smith Rivers. No PORs are expected.

Today we have 6 crews out measuring various sites along the coast from Sant Rosa to the Oregon Border.
The Eel is currently peaking at about 51K at Eel R nr Miranda and further down stream at Scotia flows are currently 175K. Flow in the Russian R at Gurneville are at 33K.

Rainfall is expected to continue through out the weekend and into next week but much lighter in nature which will keep flows elevated but nothing like today.
